Here We Go Again
Mandy is returning to France
“Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?”
“Then I said, “Here and I! Send me.”
Isaiah 6:6
Less than 3% of the French population will ever hear the message of the Gospel. This is an astounding statistic from a country that has so many beautiful churches. We had the privilege of visiting France when Mandy was a missionary. It was our first trip to Europe and Steve and I were very excited to see her life and experience the beauty of the French culture.
We were amazed by all of the beautiful architecture and breathtaking museums! We walked over nine miles a day, capturing each moment of this wonderful country. The food, the coffee, the wine, and of course listening to the beautiful language - truly a trip of a lifetime! While taking it all in, I felt a stirring deep within my heart. Something wasn’t right. Something was definitely missing.

There were so many magnificent churches on every block, yet they were more like museums than places of worship. While in Marseille, we took a bus tour up the mountain to one of the most beautiful churches we’d ever seen. While listening to the tour guide over the speaker of our bus, our attention turned to a beautiful statue of Mary holding the baby Jesus, prominently placed on the side of the mountain.
“That is a statue of the lady and the kid.”
I looked at Steve in complete shock! Certainly I must have misheard what was said. “The lady and the kid!” They couldn’t even say their names; Mary and Jesus.
So much of France lives in spiritual darkness. And many parts of this country have become predominately Muslim. So when people say to us, “Oh how wonderful for Mandy to live in France!” I believe they would feel differently if they saw this country through spiritual eyes. I had a heavy heart for so many who knew nothing of Jesus Christ, and won’t unless somebody goes there and tells them.
We couldn’t be more proud of our daughter and her devotion for The Gospel. We know God will use her in powerful ways to spread the Good News by being both the salt and the light in a part of the world that lives in so much darkness.
Thank you for your prayers and support. Truthfully, it isn’t easy to let her go, but we are reminded she doesn’t go alone. She is in good hands as being a child of the Most High God.
