This is your year!

It's New Years Eve. I woke up this morning at 5am, poured a cup of coffee and reflected on the events of 2018. Like many of you, this past year was one of healing, while at the same time, it was a year of new beginnings. As I wonder what 2019 holds, I read this passage in the Bible.

“For you shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight; For the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.” Isaiah 52:12

As we face the new year, we can face each moment with confidence because God has already gone before us. This should give each of us tremendous peace as we face an unpredictable world waiting at our front door. Yet nothing is unpredictable to God. What is unknown to me is never unknown to my Father.

Let’s face this new year with great anticipation instead of with destructive anxiety. God has gone before us and He will be our rear guard. Happy New Year to all of you!
